Hello!
I am at work right now extremely bored and tired since my supervisor is in a meeting. My morning task was to go to Tercero and bring two laptops to the corner office, but it turns out everyone in that area is also in a meeting.. so now I am back in the Student Housing building with nothing to do, so I decided to update this blog!
All I can say is I have two more quarters and then I am doneeeee... then I will need to do some massive job hunting.. the future is scary.
I'm too lazy to blog now haha.. the end! |

I haven't updated on this thing forever. What's new? Nothing much. Work is great, school is blah. Haven't taken many photos since the last time I updated. The major thing is that I got my license, and just yesterday got my car =D. Check it out on Flickr 'cause I'm too lazy to post these pictures one by one. Haha http://www.flickr.com/photos/marzxbarz/sets/72157622654871547/ |

Heyheyhey! Long time no post, eh?
Summer session started about 3 weeks ago. I just had two midterms last week and did OK on one, and totally bombed another. Of course I bombed the one that was supposed to be ridiculously easy. I didn't study for the essay part, and there were like 6 essay/short answer questions. Ugh!!!! Whatever. Anyway... what else is new in my life? Hmm.. I got a Wii! Now we have 4 controllers (2 from Japan that are kind of defective and 2 from USA). We also got Mario Tennis, Brawl, WarioWare, and Guitar Hero:WT. And if spending wasn't enough..I bought a DSLR. Haha. I HAVE PICTURES TO UPLOAD!! Woo..
Here's the UCD Arboretum, which is on the south side of campus. This is one of the few places you'll be able to see a pond / lake / whatever it is. Haha
Flowers from a tree I saw on the way to the Arboretum. It was next to the library.

Heyheyhey!
Been a while sice I last blogged in here. I've been really lazy. Taking 13 units makes you REALLY lazy and unproductive. Not to mention that it's scorching up here. It reached 101 on Saturday and 104 Sunday. The high today should be 91, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little higher than that. Anyhoo..what's new...
I purchased one of them new MacBook Pros with the black keyboard. They're called the Unibody MacBook Pros. The specs are: 2.53 Ghz Core 2 Duo (T9700 Penryn) 4 GB DDR3 RAM 320 GB HD 256 MB GeForce 9400M video card AND 512 MB GeForce 9600 GT video card 6 MB L2 Cache and all that good stuff
It cost sooo much. I totally used all the extra financial aid that I had. Now I can't afford rent for the summer until I get my summer session financial aid. Haha. Money is a drug.... I wonder how much I'll be spending once I start working...uh oh! Oh yeah, and I put up my old MBP on eBay for $600. So far there's 1 bidder and 14 watchers with about 5 hours to go in the auction. I hope that last hour will drive the price up like crazy. I want to make a crazy margin of profit..haha. Hell, any profit would be nice to subsidize the cost of this ridiculous newish laptop I bought. (On the plus side, it came with a 3 year warranty)
Classes have been going swell. I've been really lazy in all my classes. With 13 units I should be getting straight A's but instead I'm getting B's. Horrible. I need something to motivate me in school again. I don't know how I did it in high school... Hmm... what else..
I have a midterm for Japanese 6 in about an hour and a half. I am so not ready but I so don't want to study. We'll see how effed I am for this midterm soon.
I'll finish updating soon. I also have dinner with Karina and a few people at the DC tonight..yay! Richard has my camera so I can't take pics yet, sorry Tracy! I really love typing on the keyboard with this laptop, that's why this paragraph is really just about blabbering. .... Okay I've run out of things to say. Update later! |

Update time!!! So what's new? Hmm, last week Jesse and Diana came over (Thursday+Friday...what odd days, huh!?). It was unfortunately raining, so I took them on a drab tour of the campus. Then I ended the tour by whopping Jesse's arse in air hockey. Haha. We were waiting for Cindy(Diana's friend) to get back from WalMart. After the game, Jesse, Diana and I hopped on the G-line double-decker bus. Before that happened, Diana managed to spot Vincent (from high school) driving the K-line. That was pretty odd, cause she was thinking she wouldn't see him..but there he was, being a bus driver, haha. Anyhoo, after that Jesse drove to the U-Mall and saved Cindy's parking spot, while she drove all of us downtown to get some Pho. I got the vermicelli + BBQ pork (sound familiar? hahah)...dericious! I wanted to hang out more, but I had a Japanese quiz to study for, so Cindy took me home and they went over to a friends house for game night. Too bad the weather was so crappy on Thursday, and yet so nice on Friday!
Nothing much going on for classes.. cept essays are nearing their due dates and whatnot >:(.
Ooh! On Friday, Richard and I went to the ARC to play some badmin. We played this really crappy pair in a match, and beat them. These two people were asking us if they could play winner, and we said sure. I was like "damnit, have to play AGAIN!?". Little did I know, those two people were Kevjumba and his friend... haha. But yeah, we whooped on them as well. I really suck, but Richard loves badmin, so I tried to make them hit it to him instead of at me. Lol. Anyhoo.. Jenna and Richard's friend also came over from Berkeley to experience Picnic Day. We went to Pluto's for dinner on Friday night. I got a salad with tri-tip steak, sweet corn, edamame, croutons, onions, cucumbers, and some other stuff + garlic fries. It was sooooo good! Flash forward to Picnic Day... Had volunteering at 8AM so Nori drove Jenna and I to campus and we signed in. Jenna didn't have her shift until 10, so she went back with Nori to get some food at IHOP. I had my shift at 8 AM. I was taking care of lost children between 8 AM to 10 AM. What lost children, you ask? None! Nobody loses their child so early in the morning... Picnic Day just barely started! But in the off chance that somebody DID lose their child... okay. My second shift was all the way at the ARC, but I took my time getting there since I wanted to watch the parade a bit. Went there and there were like 5 volunteers in our booth.... you don't need that many volunteers! Jenna texted me saying that her shift was really lame and that everyone was leaving, so she came and visited. I decided to leave early as well. We got food and then bused back home. Once we got back, I ate and immediately took a nap. I was dead tired from only getting 3 hours of sleep the night before. Napped for an hour and finally decided to go back to campus to visit Jun. Haha! He was in a Godzilla costume, what a lamer! BUT before I did that, I went to the Arboreteum to watch Battle of the Bands with UCD, UCSD, UCI, UCB, Stanford, and Humboldt State. This year, Oregon didn't show up! Wtfux! Anyhow, I watched for about an hour, and went to the MU and saw Jessica and Mellissa. Then I visited Suzanne at work. Then I bumped into my roomie Dennison and Stefanie. Also bumped into Kevin and a bunch of other people. Pretty crazy. Met up with Jenna, Richard, Nicole, Hieu, Karina, Katrina, Phillip, and some other people and sat outside to chat for a while. We decided to get in line for DDR (Davis Dance Revolution -- a competition amongst modern and traditional dance groups) so we could get good seats. The show lasted from 7:30 to 10:30. It was a good show! This year's judges were much better than last years... omg, last year was sad. When they announced the winner for modern dance, everyone just got up and left (including me). It was getting late, and we were all hungry, so some of us went downtown to Burgers and Brew (DELICIOUS burgers!) and yeah! Got back home and K.O.ed after showering. Sunday - study, blablabla. Mmkay, too lazy to continue blogging. Maybe I'll start again later..haha. Ciao! |

Long time no update!
Sooo let's see... what can I update my life about...
For spring break, I impulsively went to UCSC to visit Tracy and Kim and the Korean (Vincent).. I mean it was IMPULSIVE. Tracy IMed me 2 hours before I made my decision..and next thing I know, I was packing up and headed to the Amtrak station. Haha. Anyway, my thoughts on UCSC is that it's sooo nice living in the forest, albeit inconvenient. My biggest complaint was the lack of a corner store nearby!!! But Tracy's hospitality made up for more than that :). Thanks Tracy! The favor will be returned when you come up here.. can you say.... sushi buffet!?!? =) Anyhow, I wouldn't mind going back down there again. As much as there wasn't much to do, it was still pretty fun knowing that you were in a forest and seeing wildlife. It was fun walking into the forest in pitch black as well! It sucks that I couldn't hang out with you guys in San Francisco though... I left Friday morning as opposed to evening... oh right, I should write about that! So I got to the BART station on Powell, and I see Polly.. it turns out she was taking the Davis-Berkeley shuttle as well! She had her mom with her. So when we got to Berkeley, her mom watched over our stuff while we headed to the TAPS office to buy tickets for the bus. Turns out that it was Cesar Chavez Holiday and they were closed.. so a whole bunch of us taking the bus were screwed because we didn't have tickets. Thankfully, the driver just collected our money and opted to buy the tickets for us when the office re-opened on Monday. Haha, funny thing is that Polly used Gloria's ID to get her mom onto the shuttle. It was greatly planned. Her mom went into the bus first and Polly said she had her ID. So she showed her Gloria's and her ID and there were no questions asked! Amazing. We talked about jobs and how she hated working at Quickly (did you know they don't get paid for the last hour they work??? Total bullcrap!)
...fast forward to spring quarter! Spring quarter has been okay so far. I had originally signed up for 17 units, but I ended up dropping one of my classes.. here's what I'm taking: JPN 152 - Traditional Japanese Drama - Total snoozefest, but there are many videos so that's a plus. The teacher is really cool as well! Aroline is in this class and she sits next to me. I really hope my book comes today, cause I have a response paper to write and I need to do the readings before I can write it!! Bah. JPN 006 - Intermediate Japanese - So far, so good. I missed a couple of assignments already because I'm too stupid to read the agenda properly.. ugh! Thankfully I know somebody in this class. It makes class more enjoyable when you take it with someone HIS 146B - 20th Century Europe - Really awesome teacher, and he's really easy supposedly. :) This class made me realize how ANNOYING some white (well, anyone really) people can be. So I'm sitting kind-of-sorta-not-really to the middle of my row, if not slightly to the right. Everyone decides to walk in from the right, and it's SO narrow that I always have to close my laptop so their asses won't crush it when squeezing through. The girl who decides to sit to the left of me has a cup of iced coffee (at 9 AM...really!?) and it reeks of that smell. The girl sitting to the right of me was much worse. She got a phone call... and PICKED IT UP! She talked for like a few minutes and my whole area was staring at her hoping she would shut up so we could hear the professor. She was so fricken' inconsiderate. UGH and she's the type that will stare at your laptop to copy your notes... there's nothing I could have done to prevent her from doing it, so I just let it happen. Next time, I'm sitting in one of the individual seats. They're probably more comfy and I won't have to worry about note thieves! =P
I dropped ECN 162 because we had our first assignment due..and OMG I already had a hard time with it. I was taking it with my roommate Dennison, and we both decided to drop. If the first assignment was giving us a headache, we could only imagine what to expect for the future assignments! Plus, the teacher had a heavy Chinese accent. The TA had an accent like Ms. Liu... but worse! LoL.
Jenna left her car in Petaluma so we don't have much easy access to a car as we did the previous quarters. Her parents decided to take the car away to see if she would get better grades. It sucks not having wheels, but it's completely manageable.
It was Jun's birthday over break and I just recently was able to give him his gift. I also got him a breakfast keychain.. he got the happy watermelon (as opposed to the sad one you got, Tracy! haha). He scared me with some news last night, but everything will be alright hopefully.. I'll make sure of it. :)
Jesse and Diana are supposedly coming to Davis on Thursday. Jesse's staying over my apartment and Diana is going to hang out with her friends. I hope it won't be awkward. It's already awkward that they're coming on a Thursday and Friday. Why not Friday and Saturday? I won't have class on Saturday and can show them soo much more!! Oh well.
How's everything going on your end? Everyone's in SC right now.. boooo.. Hope everyone's having a blast. I'm sure it's a lot more fun when everyone's back on campus and there are parties everywhere. Dang. It's 1:30.. I have class in 7.5 hrs.. I should sleep soon =P....
Oh! Let me update you on what I've recently ordered: 1) Logitech Z-5500 Speakers (505-watt) $206 2) TOSLINK Cable for the speakers $5 3) Shoes $50 4) Car charger for iPhone $0.27 5) HIS146B book 6) JPN152 Book 7) 3 Pairs of shorts ($30)
I hope that's all. I'm hoping for everything to come by Friday =P. Can't wait for the speakers. They're gonna be BOOMIN'! :) Also can't wait for Jesse and Diana to come, if they do. It'll be nice giving people a tour. If they choose not to come, I won't be disappointed either; cause it means there won't be any awkwardness =P |

Ahoyhoy! I am DONE with finals! Hear that? DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE!!! Now I'm at the Silo on my laptop 'cause I don't want to be at home (Tim's there and he's studying so I don't wanna bother him since I'd definitely be sleeping, lol). So finals came and went. I had two on the first day...and we didn't even have a dead day! A dead day is the day before finals where there isn't any class... for some reason we didn't have one of those this quarter.. First up was SAS. I studied a good 3+ hours and didn't do too bad on the final. It was 80 scantron questions and I got 63/80, which will curve nicely to a B/B+ :) After that, I had a few hours until my Japanese final. I met up with Amy to study Japanese beforehand and don't think I did too bad. I hope I still have my B in that class... Next was IRE. One of the girls in the class sent me her study guide with answers.. WOW they were so in-depth. The kind that I would never think of. It helped me SOOO much. I did pretty well, thanks to her =P Lastly, ECN... I totally bombed that final.. but I can say the same for the midterms. Hopefully the curve will be forgiving... the grade policy for econ in UCD is: 20%A, 50% B-C, 20%D&F. I'm fairly confident I have at least a C... I hope!!!
Ahh, what is there to do this break.. I have to go back to pick up my social security card from home (getting hired on campus is such a pain with all these forms!!) Other than that, there's nothing else to do.. there's a few birthdays next week, though. Nori has his bday on the 23rd and Jun has it on the 25th. Hmph! Maybe I should migrate to the quad and be one of those weirdos who use the computer out in the sun while sitting in the grass... or I can bother Richard in the library.. decisions, decisions =P |

Finals are coming up next week!! Then afterwards... spring break!!! WOOT.
Hmmm so yesterday.. let's see... SAS was boring as usual. we got let out early so i went to Olson and dropped off my speech translation into my teacher's drop-off folder. went back to Wellman (where my next class is) and waited for class to start. I sat outside and decided to take a picture of the scenery...
remind me not to shoot in 10 megapixel mode..haha. had a quiz in IRE.. then went home to rehearse my speech for jpn. got that over with in class, and then met up with Jun in front of the library. Saw Albert, Richard and Matt as well. Went to the DC for dinner at 6:30. It was Karina, Jenna, Nori, Richard, Kevin Set, Matt, Albert, King, Steven and I who were there. It's a pain finding big tables in the DC, but we managed! The food wasn't bad, and I love not having to clean up afterwards =P. Also bought a bunch of random stuff. What do I have coming? 1- Converse shoes (Chucks) 2- 2 NF jackets (maybe) 3- MacBook+MacBook Pro cases 4- a throw
lol. the cases are supposed to come today! Now i have a big gap til my next class at 3:10... I think I'll go nap =D |

So here I am at the library. I've decided to go to the library every Sunday... it makes me very productive. Haha. I just need to get in the mood to write..then I'll start homework.
I'm sitting on a windowsill, since all the table seats with the outlets are taken. It's actually really nice... I see why everyone likes sitting here now!
Outside view of where I'm sitting
 Book stacks
Anyhoo, this week was alright. The highlight was that my IRE professor pushed back the due date for my 12-page report to next next Tuesday. YAY! That gives me so much more time to slack off. I was actually supposed to finish it today.. we'll see how far I get =D. Anyway, other than that... I filled out all my job forms... now I just have to get my background check which is scheduled for tomorrow (Mon) at 2PM. Hmmm what else... Oh, I had my JPN oral test on Thursday. I think I did pretty well. MUCH better than last quarter =) Anyway, enough about school.
This weekend... on Friday, Jun came over and we (roomies) all played Apples to Apples, Slapjack and Ratscrew. Good clean fun! Gave me an excuse to hit Jun. That guy takes a lot of abuse from me...haha =P. Of course, every now and then he'll retaliate. Anyhoo, that was fun. We played til like 3 AM. It was also Richard's birthday so we got to hit him around for a bit at midnight. Saturday was pretty boring. We were gonna go get sushi at Davis Sushi Buffet, but Jenna was broke and Denni's choir group would've came along and that would've been awkwardddd. Oh well, there's always next time... after finals maybe. So Richard and I went to In-N-Out and I called up Jun. We went over to his place for a bit (he lives like 2 mins walking distance to In-N-Out) and then got some food. Jenna and Jennifer came by to pick Richard up for his party. Jun pressured to give me a ride back but I really wanted to see how far In-N-Out to my apartment was. It took 35 minutes to walk..which was longer than I expected! Anyway, Linh, Linda, Vincent and their new roommate came over and we played some Korean game and 'Zoo'. I also introduced them to Apples to Apples, but it wasn't nearly as fun as the other night.. you kind of have to be decent in English to make the game fun..but I dunno... anyhoo! They left at 2AM (or technically 3) and I went to bed at 4. Today will be more of the same. Going to be productive at the library and figure out what to eat. I haven't ordered food from Quickly in so long!
Finals are coming up.... blah. I have four finals. Two on the first day, and then two left for the remainder of finals week.
Oo yea, all my roomies are trying to get jobs.. haha. Our whole apartment is going to be working if they get their job Tim - Bus driver (already got the job) Denni & Richard - IET Computer lab assistants (this was the job I wanted before hearing about the RCA job.. so I've been helping them out with their applications) Jenna - (already got the job) some sort of phone interviewer Stefanie - (already got the job) receptionist at South Silo
I have so much time until my job starts. I don't even have orientation until Mid-May or June.. blah. Oh well! Anyway I should start being productive now... or maybe I'll go slickdealing first =D |

Wasabi ya'll! Today (or Friday) was a really awesome day... I'll list things by time just to see how i like it

Crammed a little more for my econ midterm 8:30 AM - Took the G-line to campus 8:40 AM - Arrived on campus 9:00 AM - Took Econ Midterm 9:55 AM - Caught the G-line back home 10-11:25AM - Took a nap (only had like 4 hours of sleep from studying the night before!) 11:25AM - Got a call from Matt saying I GOT THE JOB!!!! Yay!!! 11:40AM - Caught the J-line to go to the Tercero Dining Commons to have lunch with Karina 12PM - Met up with Karina and waited for Richard and Jenna 12-1PM - Ate some yummy DC food =P 1-3PM - Studied in the library for my Japanese test 3-4PM - Japanese test 4:10PM - Took G-line back home 4-7PM - Napped 9PM - Judy calls saying she's bored, so her and Linh and Linda were going to come over 9PM - Richard, Jenna and Nori leave to South Davis for a friend's birthday party 10PM-2AM - Played a bunch of card games, 'Zoo' and Nasty Scrabble. OMG my face cheeks are in pain when I try to smile.. haven't laughed that much in a long while 3AM - Jenna, Richard and I start talking about family and recession and stuff. Very interesting! 4AM - Here I am typing this
Plans for tomorrow: Arden Mall and Korean BBQ in Sacto!!! W00T!!
Mmk so what else can I go in-depth about.. Job: I won't be officially starting my job until Fall quarter, but I start training in Spring quarter, which is in April. I haven't met my co-workers and I have no idea what to expect of this position yet. I'm really excited to start though! Also, I found out that Karina and Kevin (To) were accepted as RA's for next year so I really hope I'll be in their area. That way I won't feel so lonely when I'm working at the computer center..surrounded by mostly first-years :(. Maybe I'll see some Galileo alumni too!
Midterm: I hope I did okay on the midterm... I feel like I did pretty well, but I really won't know until I get my score back. *Fingers crossed*
Anyhoo, I should probably go sleep... I'm gonna sleep well tonight :) |

[Feb. 18th, 2009|02:12 pm] |
ahoyhoy! I are at the library right now with Denni and Richard. I have class in less than an hour so I don't feel like doing anything. Instead, I'll blog! :)
So last week... nothing much happened. I didn't get a call back from my interview and just about gave up hope until today, when they emailed me saying I'm still being considered and to reply back with a good time for them to call me. Yay! I'm in step 3 of the phase! Just have to do well in the phone session and I think everything will be awesome.
The weekend was pretty boring. It was really cold and the weather wasn't very nice.. plus everyone went home! I hung out with Jordan Saturday night. We went to the basketball game and caught free pizza and candy =D. That was my dinner for that day. Then we walked back and went to Quickly, where they had a special for mango milk tea... OMG IT'S THE MOST DISGUSTING THING EVAR!! Even nastier than taro!!! We went back to my apartment, where Jenna and Jennifer were hanging around. Jenna was making whipped cream for her tira misu cheesecake that she made (from scratch!) for Nori. Looked yummy! It's in our fridge now, waiting for everyone to eat the leftovers of it..but I've had so many sweets this week, I should probably resist.
Sunday-- didn't do anything at all since it was pouring and cold. Just chatted with Jun all day, like any other day. REALLY wanted to start on my paper but the weather made me feel unproductive =P
Monday - Everyone came back! Didn't do anything other than study for Japanese and a little bit of reading. Jenna's godfather came up and took her around to go shopping. She came back with an iPhone, so I spent the better half of the night messing with Nori since he's so oblivious to things. Jenna played along pretending that she didn't have a new phone and that somebody was texting him in the house. He confiscated my iPhone, thinking it was me =P. That was fun. Fuji came over and started talking about stuff, so Denni and I went to Quickly to check their special (same thing..mango milk tea...ewww) and then we didn't wanna go back yet, so we went to Rite Aid. It's about 20 minutes of a walk from where we are. If I still lived in the dorms, it would only be across the street!
Tuesday - Yuck. SAS... most boring class ever. I had to have Jun online to keep me awake so I could chat with somebody. Last week I was texting Kyle and Jennifer and other random people like crazy during that class just to stay awake..haha. I'm gonna be soooo screwed for the quiz on Thursday for that class... IRE we got our midterms back... blah. At least I didn't fail :). I actually did pretty well considering I didn't read the books like...at all... haha. It was still raining, and Stef was yelling at her mother about the FAFSA so Jenna, Denni and I went to Woodland so Jenna could return her THREE iPods that she bought. I bought a pack of blank DVDs so I could burn Windows 7 and install it on my MacBook Pro.
Wednesday - Nothing much.. went to Econ.. came back and napped, thinking about my job and wondering why they didn't call.. then my phone buzzes telling me that I have email. Lo-and-behold, it's about the job =D. Now I have to wait for the phone call sometime this week. I'm guessing it's going to be tomorrow.. we'll see.. It's 2:28 right now.. I still have another 40 minutes until my class starts. Maybe I should try being a little productive..haha. But I'll be going to the DC today because it's Harry Potter theme night and Karina is offering to swipe me and my roomies in =D. Yay, haven't been to the DC for dinner since last year! Anyhoo.. K, UpdateUl8r. |

Ahoyhoy! So yesterday, nothing much happened. Went to class.. died of boredom. The WiFi was on the fritz so I couldn't connect the entire time, which meant I had to pay attention in class! Yuck! Anyhoo, the scantron portion of my econ midterm was up so I checked.. I got a 57/60!!!!!!! I was like HOLY CRAP! But I know I did horrible on the short answer questions/graphing... boo! Anyhoo, met up my skit group, created our skit, and went home before Japanese class. After Japanese class, I went home for a bit and went back to the library to get homework done. I was originally going to take the 9:50PM bus back but I totally looked at the wrong time and the bus wasn't scheduled to come until 10:35 =(. Thankfully Jenna offered me a ride beforehand and picked me up. She had to pick up Nori from the ARC (on campus) so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience.. I hope =P. We went to Quickly to get some milk tea and meet up Denni since we were gonna go to In-N-Out for some burgers. Good stuff!
Today, went to Econ in the morning and tried not to fall asleep. Came back and napped 'til 12. Woke up and got an email from the job I'm applying for. I'm getting an interview! Suh-weeeeeeeet! Of course it comes within pretty hectic times.. the interview will be next week and I have a JPN midterm + listening + a speech + skit due in that week.. crazy! But it's okay, the interview should only take about half an hour.
Tomorrow I have TWO midterms... back to back. I haven't started studying so I will devote my entire time to that after Japanese class. Aye! |

Might as well update again! Yesterday was pretty fun. Woke up at 1 and did laundry, then Jennifer came over to study. So I went to the living room to study with Jenna and Jennifer while Nori watched TV. Richard then came outside to study and then the time totally flew by. Then Jun came by after Denni got back from campus. We all got hungry so we walked over to Quickly/Guads to grab some food.. but Guads was closed! PREPOSTEROUS! It was only 9:30 and they're supposed to close at 10! Bastards. We all wound up getting Quickly while Jun went to McDonalds. I bought a Thai Milk Tea since it was on the special... yay! Then I stopped studying after that. Jimmy came over because his water heater was broken so he had to use our shower. Hahaha, poor guy. He was showering with cold water for the past 4 days..lol. So it was all of us being loud and rowdy in the apartment and not studying (even though Jenna, Jennifer and Jun had a bio midterm the next day. It reminded me of freshman year when we would go out to eat with parties of like 16.. the "AZN Bike Gang". Haha. Good times.
Now I'm studying for my Kanji quiz at 3:10.. and debating whether or not to go to Econ discussion. I really don't wanna see my midterm score =(. Speaking of which... I have two lovely midterms this week that I have yet to really study for... and I have to finish my two-page paper that's due tomorrow. I'm pretty much done.. just need a litttttle bit more.. and I have to find that article I was writing about... stupid me. I forgot to save the link. |

Wasabi! Long time no post.... I've been really lazy and can't really say that I haven't had much time, but yeah. Let's see... School has been okay. I had my Macroeconomics midterm on Friday and think I totally bombed it... I'm just hoping the whole class did as bad as me so there'll be a nice curve =D. I have two midterms coming up on Thursday.. back to back! As in.. I have my SAS midterm from 9-1020 and then my IRE midterm from 1030-1150!! Ahhhh! I'm not too worried though. I think Econ was the thing I was most worried about. I also applied for a job to be an RCA (Residential Computing Advisor):

Sounds like the job would totally suit me, huh? =D I filled out the questionnaire for the job on Thursday and hope they'll call me back. There's 7 spots, so the chances should be pretty decent.. and the pay is $11 an hour!!!! Suh-weeeeeet.
What's new in my technological life? Hmm, well I bought a used, broken MacBook Pro and spent a good 150 fixing it. It's got really nice specs. 2.33 Ghz C2D, x1600 256 MB ATI Radeon, 250 GB hard drive, 2 GB RAM (hope to upgrade it when I find good deals on RAM), and all that good stuff. The MacBook Pro only cost me $350 off eBay so I think I got one hell of a deal.. it just took some lengthy time to repair since I had no idea what was wrong with it. The backlight was dead, and I was reading that it was most likely an inverter issue.. so I bought an inverter for like $50 and opened up the case to install it. Turns out it wasn't the inverter. I also read that it could be the logic board or the display itself. The logic board would have cost over $500 to replace, so I went for the cheaper route and bought a screen for $85. Thankfully it worked. I <333 my MacBook Pro. The keyboard is awesome and even though it's not the new one, the specs are good enough to last me a long while =].
What am I doing now? I'm currently watching the Australian Open with my roommate. It's Nadal vs Federer and it's still the first set, tied 4-4. Gonna stay up all night watching this. =D.
Hmmm... what else.. oh right. I forgot about Japanese. Japanese is so difficult now. It's so demanding and takes up a bunch of my time everyday because of all the studying. I have to study like 2 hours a day to keep up with the class, but it's still fun. I'm actually doing better than I did last quarter, thanks to a much better teacher.
So how is everyone doing? Nobody updates anymore with the exception of Doug..which I shall read his blog after typing this =P. UPDATE, EVERYBODY!!! |

Wasabi! It's 10:14 AM right now and I just got out of my SAS class... omg that class is a sleeping pill... I should just skip class from now on. It was totally useless going to class cause the whole lecture was about nutrition.and I took a whole class on that last quarter! Could have slept in for another hour...rats. Oh well. I'm waiting for my IRE 104 class to start (@ 10:30). It's in the same building (Wellman) but on the top floor. I'm in the study lounge right now with a bunch of other people waiting for their classes to start as well. Can't wait for the weekend. I'm not sure if I'm going to go home... but if I don't, nobody's gonna be here. Jenna and Nori are going snowboarding with the J.A.S.S. club, Richard and Stefanie are going home, Tim is never around to begin with, and Denni is contemplating on whether or not to go home. I think Jun has some family needs to tend to as well... so if I don't go home, it'll be really boring..but at least I'll be able to do homework and whatnot. Hmmmm... Okay anyways, it's 10:18 now. I think I'll head to class. I love this building because it's blanketed by Wi-Fi. I'm always online, even during class :)
[Update] Yay, done with class! Totally expected a quiz for IRE today... and there was one! I think I did pretty well on that quiz since it was only one question.. and it was based directly off his notes. JPN was same ol' same ol'. Now I get to rest 'til I feel like doing homework/studying. I've been searching for a Macbook Pro for the past few days. Saw this sweeeet deal for the latest one at 2.4 ghz for 800 bucks, but it seemed too sketchy (no real pictures, seller has never sold anything, etc). I saw a couple of my Macbooks going for about 200-500. They're not as fast as mine but that's dirt cheap! |

Ahoyhoy! So let me update you on how things are going! Classes: JPN 005: The teacher is sooo disorganized and makes sooo many mistakes, but I still like her better than my previous teacher...haha. I'm actually doing pretty well. Japanese is getting really tough, though. I just spent a good 2.5 hours studying vocabulary for my quiz tomorrow (or today). We have quizzes everyday and new grammar points as well. It's like there's no room to breathe! SAS 002: TOTAL SNOOZEFEST! I'm already thinking of skipping class and just learning by myself.. it'll spare me the torture of listening about agriculture.... at least there's Wi-Fi in the classroom, though :) IRE 104: I have a 12-page research paper to write for this class, but I really enjoy it. It's very interesting and if I keep up with the readings I think I should do pretty well. ECN 1B: Not sure what to think about this class yet.. haven't really learned anything so I'll just have to wait and see!
..It's the weekend! You know there's going to be TONS of parties this weekend.. starting Friday (today!). If only I were a party-goer. My friend has a party today and another friend has a little hangout/party on Saturday..not sure if I'll go to either.. even though it's for their birthdays. Saturday I will go to the basketball game and try to catch some more free stuff! I went to the basketball game against UC Riverside today. We won 64-57 I think.. and I caught some tube socks! I gave them to Richard(Dick) since I've already caught 4 pairs.. 5 including that one. Haha. Anyway, it's 1:16.. I should hit the hay soon.. I have class in less than 8 hours.. Nuuuuu.. |
